Dance for Darfur
February 29, 2008

REVIEW OF EVENT:

Summary:

This event was designed and promoted by students in order to gather their peers to stand in solidarity with people who are suffering from violence in Sudan. In addition to being a social event, there were opportunities at the dance for students to learn more about the genocide and humanitarian crisis in Darfur.  Proceeds from ticket sales to the dance went to benefit the Save Darfur Coalition, The Sudanese Lost Boys of Cleveland, Catholic Charities Office of Migration and Refugee Services, Catholic Relief Services, and STAIRS (Steps Towards Advancing In Resettlement Skills).  Representatives from these organizations were present to educate students about their work and invite them to volunteer or support their efforts in some way.
